  • Ultrasound image of a dog's heart.

    Echocardiography

An echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) is a diagnostic tool that is used when your pet is diagnosed with a heart murmur. A heart murmur is caused by turbulent blood flow that we can hear with our stethoscope. A heart murmur can often be due to underlying disease. An echocardiogram can allow a definitive diagnosis for your pet.

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) printout showing multiple leads with cardiac electrical activity.

    Electrocardiography

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a diagnostic tool that is used when your pet is diagnosed with an arrhythmia. When your pets’ heart beats, an electrical signal occurs and is passed through the heart muscle via special pathways. This electrical activity can be recorded via an ECG to help obtain a diagnosis and guide treatment if needed.

  • Chest X-ray showing the lungs and heart, with the right side marked 'R'.

    Additional Testing

Results of the diagnostics at a routine visit may warrant further testing (i.e. radiographs, bloodwork, or blood pressure). If these tests are recommended, we can help guide you in the right direction to make sure your pet is well taken care of during the process.
